When a volcano erupted in Iceland, it caused havoc on airline travel completely changing our client’s plans for their scheduled depo. Here’s how we helped with their challenge.

Challenge

A Canadian firm needed help preparing for a deposition in India when a natural disaster occurred right before the depo was scheduled and caused havoc on air travel.

Solution

We acted immediately, mobilizing one of our UK-based court reporters to take the record over the phone. For added assurance of a crystal-clear audio backup, we provided a local sound engineer for free. Our local deposition interpreter provided flawless interpretation for the witnesses from Hindi to English. Result: a perfect success for our client.

Helpful Tips: What you need to know before arranging a deposition in India

Taking voluntary depositions of U.S. citizens in India can be conducted without any special permissions. However, voluntary depositions of Indian or Third Country Nationals will require prior permission form the Indian Central Authority.
All U.S. citizens traveling to India will need to apply for a business visa before travel. To get a business visa you will need a Letter of Invitation from an Indian law firm or Indian company.
