How to Look Good While Traveling for an International Deposition – Part 1

U.S. depositions can take place in any city and country around the world! While traveling to new and exotic places can be fun and exciting, looking and feeling great while doing so can often feel like a lost art form.
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you look your best when traveling for an international deposition:

Before You Leave

  • Get a Good Night’s Sleep
A good night’s sleep is the key to looking and feeling good, so try to get plenty of sleep the night before your flight. Avoid coffee and greasy foods that cause indigestion and interfere with sleep cycles.
  • Hydrate
Drink plenty of water before you leave and skip the margaritas for now! Even very mild dehydration shows around the eyes and lips.
  • Exfoliate
When traveling, you need all the moisture you can get to prevent your skin from drying out and looking tired. Exfoliate before your trip and use a high quality water based moisturizer specially formulated for your face and body. Remember to moisturize your entire body as well as your face.

What to Wear on the Plane

When choosing what to wear on the airplane you want to pick something that is both comfortable and stylish at the same time.

  • Breathable Fabrics
Maintain in-flight comfort and cleanliness by wearing breathable fabrics – materials that allow air and moisture to pass through – like cotton, silk, or linen.
  • Shoes & Socks
Never wear brand new shoes while traveling.   Nothing could be worse than blisters on a plane! Slip-on shoes or shoes you can take off easily are the best (you may have to take them off in the airport for security reasons). And don’t forget to bring or wear socks, so your feet don’t get cold.

For Men

  • Undergarments
Comfort level is key during any flight. Wear silky boxers with a soft, tagless waistband so you don’t have elastic digging into you. If you’re a briefs man, pick up a seamless pair that won’t leave you uncomfortable.
  • On the Bottom
Avoid pants that wrinkle easily and any fabric made with linen. They are your worst nightmare on a plane. Wear a pair of tab closure pants, wrinkle-resistant khakis or a nice pair of jeans that fit you well at the waist. Don’t wear pants with holes, basketball shorts, or sweatpants.
  • On the Top
A button-up is the best way to go. Choose one that both fits well and is comfortable to wear while seated for long periods of time. Choose a shirt in a dark color, which won’t show wrinkles. If you’re traveling in your suit jacket, lay it on top of suitcases in the overhead compartment to keep it from wrinkling. Take a lightweight zip-up sweatshirt or fleece jacket if you get cold on the plane.

For Women

  • On the Bottom
Instead of your favorite skinny jeans opt for less restrictive garments like A-line skirts, loose-fitting dresses, leggings or more relaxed straight- or wide-leg pants.
  • On the Top
Layering is the key to any airline travel. Start with a comfortable tank top over a cotton shirt, and then add a cardigan or jacket. Layering will keep you comfortable as you go through the many temperature zones that airplanes always seem to have.
  • Scarf
A scarf can add extra style to your outfit and also double as an extra blanket.
  • Make-Up
Avoid wearing heavy foundations and powders and instead opt for a BB or CC cream that won’t leave you face looking patchy and dry while in the air. Think twice about mascara as it can smudge your skin if you fall asleep. Take a small makeup bag with you and put your face on in the restroom as you get close to your destination.
